The Special Day - #CupidGames

5 days to go, I had my heart up in my sleeves. I had decided the day – It has to be the Valentine’s Day. I knew that those 120 hours would accumulate countless of memories, in-numerable thoughts and a constant ray of worry that would, with each passing minute, intense as if to scare the left, out of me.

2 months ago, I had met her. It was when we had started our new session at college. She was a new admission, choosing to be the stranger in her own surroundings – I probably was her first friend in this place. And, believe me – It did not happen by chance. There are moments that I would be happy to tell, but I don’t have words enough to express them. There was something special about that day, there was something special about her too – for I know not, what kept me fixated at her, was it her charming smile? Or her looks which with every passing second mesmerized me to a new level. It was not until the moments later, that I realized, Love at first sight still exists
.
We came closer, being in a same class, discussions were bound to happen and never to cease, with topics ranging from one aura of random to another. She was the only child, bearing no siblings, I quite did understand that she was the one, who was always pampered, and need be, I would have to be the one who would take her persuasions, tantrums and everything but I was ready – I was in love.
If it would have been in my hand, I would have spent waiting those 120 hours pass, every second in a conscious of awake. For I was too, anxious to know her reply. To know what she would answer to my eternal question. We never talked on this but it seemed too natural to be talked upon. I had decided that I would ask her the best way I could.

So I bought out my father’s tuxedo, dressed in white and black and bought her a beautiful ring, which might look even better when placed on her finger. The stages and props were set, it was her birthday on 14th of February itself, so I had, even better reason to let myself keep occupied to it. I did ask her parents’ permission, for setting up a surprise birthday party for her. I let them unaware of my other intentions.

I called twice in the morning, thrice in the afternoon and countless times in evening to make sure that everything was ready, as the day for my judgement was tomorrow. I had advised my friends to keep the party blasters, and a camera and snow-sprays ready when I finally go on my knees. I wanted to record every bit of it, so that later we could look at it and smile, in a way no heavenly feeling does.
It was the longest night, but perhaps the special talk on the midnight was something which kept me awake the following night.

“Happy Birthday”, I said hiding my excitement for the following day.

Thank you so much”, said she, probably sensing my excitement for the following day. “Where is my gift?” she asked.

You’ll get it tomorrow”, I told her and smiled meekly.

I’ll accept it”, she said quietly.

And it was enough to keep me awake the following night.

The morning break out, but I was out of the bed already, prior to breaking of dawn. Called once to my love, and made sure she has a beautiful valentine this year.

So it was all set, with party going on – a party which was conducted not only for her celebrations but also for a youth who wanted to indulge in love – for the celebrations of Valentine’s Day
.
The cake was brought up, and she was handed the knife to cut it. I knew it was my chance to make a move, so I grabbed the knife in her hand and kept it on the table aside, I didn't want her to make a ferocious move if she rejected me. She looked puzzled, but I was here to solve it. Taking a small box from my coat’s pocket, went of my knees – The silence surrounded us as if the world wanted to hear those golden words. “Will you be mine?” I uttered with extreme delicacy.

She was numb, from head to toe, except her tears which flowed with the stream making a path of her fair cheeks.

I accept it”, was all she said, and the surroundings were covered with the snow sprays and party blasters all over. And most importantly, we had captured the precious moment of her life, in the pixels to be repeated again and again. I did realize, that things done bolder, are better.

Safety Begins With Me - #TheSafeHabit

To Natasha,

As I strolled down the empty lane, there seemed a void difficult to fill in the midnight. Way past the twelve-o-clock line,  I knew you would be angry. It was our wedding anniversary, and I did not forget it, believe me. Struck up in some office work, you were constantly there in my thoughts, and I wished to reach home as soon as possible. The minutes were tickling slower than ever, it seemed that it would take eternity to entrap the hand a full rotation of that watch's dial. Or, probably, it was my stare which had forced it to stop in its tracks, I was unaware. We all wrapped up the remaining work, and I left for home. My friends, told me to have a drink to relax, for it had been many long hours that we all had been working. You might not believe me, but I refused. I apologized, and I left. I was proud, I was happy, that I was finally coming back to you. I did look for flower merchants all along the way, I couldn't find one.

It seemed a long way, 20 minutes to home, were suddenly the hours which I would cross. It was similar to a desert crossing, remember? You had told me about one. As I passed certain landmarks, each made me remember you, and I started to plan the things we would do the following day. I passed the theater where we watched our first movie, I passed our first restaurant, where we dined. I passed the lanes where we would have walks back in our days. Everything seemed coming back to me, and it all seemed wonderful. Honestly, I couldn't decide onto what we would do tomorrow. Whatever it was, I wanted it to be with you.

Have you ever wondered about the night traffic lights? They blink together, the reds as if signifying some kind of harmony with each other, and it reminded me of you again. It reminded me of times when we stood out together, blinking away problems just like that.

I was missing you too much, I knew you wouldn't have been to bed yet, you must be waiting for me. So I drove faster, I wanted to reach to you, I wanted to be with you as soon as possible. In a blink of an eye, in a spur of a moment. I picked up my phone, to hear your voice, hardly did I know, I was doing it for the last time. With each tune keypad played as I typed your name on my phone, death immortalized in me, which I did not seem to realize. Perhaps, it was too late to realize, after the truck had struck the car in full force, and I was lying helpless, with my phone in my hand, and the dial pad finally pressed. I wanted to apologize, I would not be able to make it. I would not answer your waiting call, or I would not celebrate the day tomorrow. I wanted to apologize, I had made a 'you' out of 'we'.

Please don't cry Natasha, it was my fault. Do not blame the truck driver, I was on the phone trying to connect to you. I apologize for many things, but significantly for giving you a gift which you never deserved. If there would been any last wish of mine, it would be just, do tell our children, that Safety Begins With Us. You might never receive this letter Natasha, for god doesn't deliver them from here.

~*~*~*~

It is truly important to understand the meaning of life, and being a path of life, a path where all destinations connect, Safe driving has got to be the numero uno position to take care of.
You see, quite honestly, everything starts from us. A beautiful quote by Mahatma Gandhi, reflects this simple thinking in the smallest yet, largest things in life. It says, "Be the change you want to see the world in". Quite similarly, it is not just the defining or shouting screams to other drivers/motorists for not driving properly, but also to hold a mirror in front and look at ourselves.

There can be number of steps that can be taken to improve the prevention of such disastrous outcomes:-

  • In a nation of population more than 1 billion, there has to be a crowd jumbling at a station, but then again, don't we know the steps to arrange the stack? A personal level training to each obtainment of driving license should be done. We need to show, that not-everywhere you can make the green notes work.
  • There have been thousands or more than that, campaigns of opposition of Drink and Drive, yet there seems un-matched ignorance in terms of this simplified idea. It not only hurts you, but the ones without it too.
  •  Coming back to the use of hari patti, Its time it shouldn't work on traffic police.
  • Have your vehicle checked on regular basis to avoid any discoveries on the spot of accident? You see, precaution is better than the cure.

And not only these, if above all - we respect the ones waiting for us at home, at places where we left them, then situations would rather take a different turn.

The Lost Desire - #BringBackTheTouch

He was in a process of decline, the one which felicitates isolation from the world. Call it the stress at job, or the lack of passion which interpreted in every sphere of his life. It had been 3 years to the day they tied the knot, and the morning following that night was something they would never forget, he had made a breakfast for her. In a span of few minutes which had measured few years along, everything seemed complete. Yet, every morning today, all they do, is to execute the mutual exclusiveness of formality over a cup of caffeine, which they had stopped choosing, they were content with whatever being served.

The mornings passed as the dew drops falling off a leaf to which it no more belonged. The afternoons were the time they indulged in their work, evenings were spent in travelling and the nights in depression.

It was a tiring winter day, a season where even the sweat of hard work chills you down with cold. Sitting on the coffee table, waiting for the daily charge of caffeine, he seemed puzzled with thoughts. There, he sees Natasha bringing his coffee, and just like the previous days admires her, looking at her in daze, in an adorable way. Just as she approaches him, she is struck with the presence of a wooden plank on the floor, and the absence of very same thing from her eyes. She tumbles down. Rajat runs to her witnessing it, and asks her whether she is fine or not. “I cannot walk, my foot hurts”,she said. Rajat knew what was to be done, he picked her up and carried her to the room.

He isolated from her, or vice versa – they could never come to the conclusion. They still loved each other, the things were perfect just like how it were that morning, but something seemed to lack. Both knew the answer, but none of them ever questioned. It was passion.

There are stages of life when you have to take steps which decide your immediate future, and as well as the one which eventually settles down in coming years.

In those 20 seconds of travels, he had a ride which belonged to his past, to his beloved marriage and to the love they still sustained. In his arms, she felt secured again, she felt warmth in that cold morning, and the comfort ability which they shared, seemed to return to its not-so frivolous state. The 20 seconds had taught him the value of someone’s presence, and her – the value of him. There was a smile, and a blush which rose on each face. He admired her the whole day, taking care of her foot. They had brought back the old touch, touch of love, touch of inspire, a touch which makes them feel loved, a touch with sparks of life. It was a cold night, and a longer one than usual.

The morning was reminisce to the past, which Natasha fondly remembered – “Good Morning”, said Rajat bringing a cup of coffee and French toast to serve with.
